K Line conducted emergency response exercise for serious maritime accidents

Must read

Personnel from Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (K Line) carried out an emergency response exercise, as part of their training to optimally prepare for possible serious maritime accidents.

The scenario unfolded under the assumption that an LPG carrier vessel collided with an oil tanker, while navigating the bay of Osaka, in Japan.

In that context, a series of emergency response processes were confirmed, including the establishment of a crisis management headquarters after receiving the incident report, the creation of a communication channel with the ship management company and the holding of a simulated press conference at the end of the exercise. The journalists asked numerous questions, generating a tense atmosphere, similar to a real conference.

Given the growing global interest in safety and environmental protection, the K Line Group stated that it considers the safe operation of its vessels as the highest priority to fulfill its social responsibility as a shipping company. Henceforth, it will continue to conduct large-scale accident response drills.
