Must read

A keel-laying ceremony took place on 30 November 2022 for the first of Shanghai Electric’s new service operation vessels (SOVs)

Two SOVs, both based on a design from Ulstein in Norway are being ZPMC. The SOVs are Shanghai Electric’s first vessels of this type, and the first purpose-built SOVs for the Chinese market.

The ULSTEIN SX195 and SX197 SOVs ordered by Shanghai Electric are due to be delivered by the end of 2023 and in early 2024, respectively. Both designs make use of the Ulstein X-BOW and X-STERN.

Intended to provide accommodation for 60 POB and 100 POB, respectively, both vessels are of hybrid design with batteries installed in order to reduce emissions.

A steel-cutting ceremony for the vessels took place on 15 September 2022.
