Must read

Kongsberg Maritime has secured a major contract with Sea1 Offshore to supply Launch and Recovery Systems (LARS) for four new offshore construction vessels, according to the statement.

The agreement covers two LARS units per vessel to support subsea construction and ROV operations. Each package includes two telescopic A-frames, fully electrical umbilical winches, energy-efficient hydraulic power units, and a dedicated control system.

The systems provide a safe working load of 15 tonnes (vehicle dry weight) and winch cable capacity of 4,500 metres for deep-water tasks.

The companies state that the solutions are designed for controlled launch and recovery in challenging sea states, compact installation, high durability and optimised ROV handling. They also note environmental advantages, including hydraulic power units with frequency control to reduce emissions and energy use.

Kongsberg Maritime is a business unit within Norway’s Kongsberg Group, operating as a technology developer and supplier for marine industries. It provides systems and services for vessel automation, navigation, hydroacoustics, and subsea operations across commercial, research and governmental sectors. The company functions as a legally established corporate entity within the larger industrial group and maintains a global customer and service network.
