Kongsberg Maritime Wins Finnish Engine Room Simulator Project

Recently, Kongsberg Maritime of Norway announced that it has officially won the bid and will deliver a state-of-the-art K-Sim® Full Mission Engine Room Simulator system to the Aboa Mare Maritime Academy and Training Center in Turku, Finland.

The delivery is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2026. The system will include the most advanced simulator models currently available on the market, covering both conventional and new-generation propulsion technologies, including hybrid, dual-fuel, battery, and methanol-fueled engines. This will ensure that trainees and seafarers at Aboa Mare receive practical training aligned with the global shipping industry’s green transition.

The K-Sim Engine Room Simulator system fully complies with STCW Convention requirements and the DNV standard ST-0033, and will come with DNV Class A and C certifications, ensuring the highest level of quality and realism in maritime training.

This project represents one of the most modern simulation systems installed by Kongsberg Maritime in Finland, fully demonstrating the company’s firm commitment to maritime education and skills enhancement as the global shipping industry moves towards sustainable development.
