Must read

Kuenz has been selected by DFDS Belgium to deliver one brand new rail-mounted gantry (RMG) crane for its intermodal terminal in Ghent, Belgium.

As one of the main intermodal terminals in Ghent, with the ability to handle all kinds of cargo, DFDS Belgium is set to increase its capacity with the new RMG.

Vincent Pelletier, area sales manager at Kuenz, said: “DFDS Belgium has placed its trust in Kuenz due to the reliability and performance of our cranes and our wide and long experience in the intermodal market.

“Especially in times like these, it is important to rely on European components sourcing for new equipment, which is our trademark and the assurance of highest quality and availability.”

The new Kuenz intermodal RMG crane is expected to improve the terminal’s efficiency and productivity at lower costs, while improving safety via an efficient camera system.

It will feature a non-spanned double girder, a rail span of 23 m, oner single cantilever of 8, 25 m and will be equipped with a piggyback spreader.

The crane will be able to stack 1-over-3 (10’6) containers.

Kuenz Benelux is able to offer fast and efficient local assistance from Antwerp or Vlaardingen, which are both situated a “stone’s throw” away from Ghent, Pelletier noted.

“After Hupac and Cominant, both successfully operating their intermodal terminals with three Kuenz cranes in Antwerp, we at Kuenz are delighted to set up a new partnership with DFDS Belgium in Ghent and further strengthen our presence in Belgium.”

The crane is due to be delivered in March 2023.
