The resources will be used for the construction and management of three parks, one in Brittany and two in the Mediterranean
Brussels – The European Commission has given the green light to a French project worth 11 billion euros aimed at supporting the development of offshore wind energy. The initiative will last for 20 years. The program aims to promote the transition to a net-zero emissions economy and contribute to achieving the EU’s renewable energy targets by 2030. The measure will support the construction and operation of three floating offshore wind farms: one located off the southern coast of Brittany and two in the Mediterranean Sea. Each facility will have an installed capacity of approximately 500 MW and will be able to generate around 2.2 TWh per year, equivalent to the annual energy needs of about 450,000 French households. According to the Commission, the program will help strengthen the EU’s industrial leadership in clean technology and boost European production capacity in response to the growing demand for renewable energy.
