According to the latest data released by Alphaliner, as of September 7, the global number of operational container ships totaled 7,388, with a total capacity of 32.9899 million TEU, equivalent to approximately 392 million deadweight tons. Among these, the total capacity of the top three liner companies accounts for 46.91% of the global market.
The top three global liner companies by capacity are Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) (6.801 million TEU, 20.61% share), Maersk Line (4.631 million TEU, 14.04% share), and CMA CGM (4.045 million TEU, 12.26% share).
Alphaliner points out that the capacity rankings from 4th to 10th place are as follows: COSCO Shipping Group, Hapag-Lloyd, Ocean Network Express (ONE), Evergreen Marine, HMM, ZIM Integrated Shipping Services, and Yang Ming Marine Transport. The capacity of the top 7 companies all exceeds 1.8 million TEU.
Rankings from 11th to 20th are as follows: Wan Hai Lines, Pacific International Lines (PIL), X-Press Feeders Group, SITC Container Lines, UniFeeder, Korea Marine Transport Co. (KMTC), Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL), Sinokor Merchant Marine, Sea Lead Shipping, and Emirates Shipping Line.
