Constellation Marine Surveyors has released a video showing how dangerous a pilot’s job is and how important it is that all safety procedures are followed.
The latter was unfortunately not the case in the accident that the video here tragically documents.
The name of the ship and pilot have not been released, but it is clearly apparent that the pilot’s leg gets caught between the pilot boat and the ship’s side, after the pilot jumped onto the pilot ladder.
The crew managed to bring the severely injured pilot to safety.
According to Constellation Marine Surveyors, the accident underscores the importance of all safety rules being followed and that safe behavior is practiced again and again, so that similar situations can be avoided.
