Lubmarine launches dual fuel engine oil for gas operations

Must read

Lubmarine, the marine lubricants division of TotalEnergies, has launched Aurelia NGX 40, a new four-stroke gas engine lubricant developed to support the growing use of dual fuel technology in marine and power generation operations.

The lubricant is formulated with a Base Number of 7.3 and an ultra-low ash content of 0.54%, a combination designed to extend oil life, improve cleanliness and reduce maintenance demands under high-severity operating conditions.

According to Lubmarine, the low ash formulation helps limit deposit build-up on pistons, exhaust valves and combustion chambers, while strong BN retention supports longer service intervals.

Aurelia NGX 40 is suitable for engines operating on both gas and ultra-low sulphur diesel without requiring an oil change, offering operational flexibility for vessels switching between fuel types.

The product has received approvals from major engine manufacturers, including Wärtsilä, Everllence (formerly MAN Energy Solutions), and Bergen (formerly part of Rolls-Royce and now acquired by Langley Holdings plc).

Lubmarine said the new lubricant is intended for operators seeking cleaner engine performance, longer oil life and consistent reliability across a range of sailing conditions.

The product launch comes as the marine industry continues to adopt dual fuel engine technology, with operators seeking lubricants that can accommodate switching between fuel types during voyages.

Lubmarine, based in Nanterre, France, operates as part of TotalEnergies’ lubricants business unit.
