Serge Dal Farra, Marketing Manager at Lubmarine, a division of TotalEnergies Lubrifiants, explains how the new digital Lubportal will transform the management of lubrication
The launch of Lubmarine’s new digital portal will not replace the existing requirement for crew members to conduct regular drain oil analysis and visual inspections.
However, by providing a convenient cloud-based portal for the analysis results to be uploaded, it allows the results to be shared with Lubmarine technicians as well as shore-based colleagues.
By giving experts easy access to drain oil analysis results within minutes, and the ability to compare results with previous results from the same assets, the system opens the door to the provision of much faster engine performance insights.
Serge Dal Farra added that the new digital sampling solutions offers a number of practical advantages for ship operators.
By streamlining the recording and analysis of sampling results, it brings drain oil analysis into the 21st century. It removes the risk of record keeping inconsistencies between crews and individual crew members, as the results are recorded in the cloud, and accessible to colleagues ashore as well as to Lubmarine engineers.
The main LubPortal portal also offers a convenient location for the management of lube oil procurement to ensure that on board cylinder oil inventories can be efficiently tracked and managed.
Advisory services
Another benefit for ship engineers and technical managers is that the system will make it easier to analyse the results of the latest drain oil analysis and compare the results of the latest drain oil analysis with historical results.
Lubmarine is also introducing a range of advisory services to ship operators and owners, using the data to provide greater insight.
In addition to the basic LubPortal platform, Lubmarine is also offering a LubInsight solution, which includes advice on lubrication strategies, optimising the feed-in rates and selecting the correct lubrication oils.
In depth laboratory based analytical services on lubricant condition are also available via a LubDiag service, which will also provide in-depth assessments on how equipment and engine performance.
