In her keynote speech on leadership in the shipping industry, she stressed that “leadership that excludes half of society is not real leadership—it is incomplete.” Ms. Hatzimanoli highlighted that women represent only 19% of the workforce onshore and about 1% at sea, while presenting Cyprus’s initiatives for strengthening their participation with actions such as mentoring, scholarships, and also the Equality in Shipping Award.
Finally, the Deputy Minister of Shipping of Cyprus called on governments and the private sector to tear down barriers, underlining that leadership means inspiration, unity, and the courage to chart a course in uncertain waters.
