Government House Leader and ex-Labour Minister, Steven MacKinnon, replaces Chrystia Freeland as Transport Minister, following her resignation from Cabinet on Tuesday to take on a new role as Canada’s special envoy for the reconstruction of Ukraine. The Internal Trade portion of her portfolio moves over to Minister Dominic LeBlanc, who already serves as the minister responsible for Canada-US Trade, intergovernmental affairs and one Canadian economy. Minister MacKinnon is the fifth Transport Minister since 2021.
