Maersk strengthens operations in Saudi Arabia with a new cold storage facility at King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam.

In a statement, the liner company reveals plans to open the 13,000 m2 storage unit in March 2023.

”Saudi Arabia is a significant market for us,” says director of products and services at Maersk Saudi Arabia Mohammad Shibab.

The cold storage unit primary task is to store frozen commodities such as poultry, meat, vegetables, confectionary and processed food.

The unit is designed to hold 8,000 forty-foot equivalent containers (FFEs) and 168,000 so-called pallet positions annually.

”With more than a fifth of the country’s food imports coming through King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam, we wanted to establish a state-of-the-art cold storage facility that will help us serve the food industry better,” says Mohammad Shibab.
