Fire erupted in superstructure of general cargo ship BEATA in the evening Dec 20, off Sinop, Turkey, Black sea. Salvage and tugs responded in fighting major fire. Fire was taken under control or extinguished by Dec 21, but as can be seen on photos, superstructure has burned out. Reportedly there were 17 crew on board, 16 were rescued, of whom 4 are injured, 1 seriously, 1 crew remains missing. Understood the wreck is adrift, salvors waiting for hull to cool down, to tow wreck to shelter.
