AUGUST 30, 2015 — The U.S. Maritime Administration (MARAD) has announced the availability of the fourth edition of the “Exhaust Gas Cleaning Systems Selection Guide.”
MARAD says the new edition provides shipowners and operators the latest information on scrubber technology available to assist the industry in meeting new sulfur emissions standards. It includes guidance on regulatory requirements and compliance options, life cycle analyses for various vessel types, review of scrubber technology and technical insight into integration, operations, and maintenance challenges.
An appendix includes supplier-provided product information.
This updated guide was developed by Seattle based naval architecture firm Glosten in cooperation with the Ship Operations Cooperative Program (SOCP) and with funding from MARAD’s Maritime Environmental and Technical Assistance (META) Program.
