An explosion occurred aboard cargo ship Dumai Line 5 (IMO 9785213) during the morning of June 9th while the vessel was moored off Batam Port, Riau islands,Indonesia. There were no passengers on board, but one crew member died in the explosion. Another crew member jumped over board and remains missing. Four crew members taken to hospital in critical condition as a result of their burns. The explosion triggered a fire which engulfed and gutted most of the ship.

A Filipino sailor was injured by a fall on board bulk carrier Mercurius (IMO 9580091) on
June 6th when it was 152nm west of the tip of Penmarc’h, France. An NH90 Caiman
helicopter was deployed from the Lanvéoc-Poulmic base to Brest, where a doctor boarded the aircraft, which then joined the bulk carrier to hoist the injured person. The patient was taken care of at the Cavale Blanche hospital centre in Brest at around the same day.

It is entered with Gard on behalf of Mercurius Shipowning Ltd. As of June 9th the vessel was in the North Sea, underway from Casablanca, Morocco, to Kotka, Finland, ETA June 11th.
A fire broke out in the engine room of fishing boat Iklarand (IMO 7740934) early on June
9th at the anchorage of Amur Bay. near Ushi island in the Sea of Japan. The fire spread to the superstructure. All 17 crew members were evacuated from the ship by Maritime Rescue Service vessel Capital Balashov. The captain was injured and received medical assistance at a local hospital. The Iklarand remained afloat and no fuel spill was observed. However, it was largely gutted.

Cargo ship Isik 2 (IMO 9037288) suffered an engine failure off the coast of Kilitbahir, Turkey,
while en route from Tuzla to İzmir. The ship was assisted by a tug and anchored at Karanlık Liman under the coordination of the Çanakkale Ship Traffic Services Centre. As of June 9th the vessel was at anchor off Çanakkale, Turkey.
2001-built, Turkey-flagged, 6,167 gt Isik 2 is owned and managed by Beyazbayrak Gemi Nakliye of Istanbul, Turkey.

/oil products tanker Gobustan (IMO 9575321), which suffered a technical failure at
Ravenna, Italy on May 1st that could not be repaired by the crew, is being towed by the Sea Lord (IMO 8325119) to Yalova for permanent repairs. The towage operation commenced on May 31st with an ETA at the Yalova shipyard area of June 10th.
