Bulk carrier Riva Wind (IMO 9301196), which left the Port of Odesa on August 7th with 50,000 tons of grain on board anchored north of Istanbul on August 9th for inspections.
The grain was said by Harvest Commodities SA to be owned in a joint venture with Indonesia’s Arsari Group, operating through PT Comexindo International. Harvest Commodities SA said that it also owned the Arizona, which left Chornomorsk with 55,000 tons of grain. Both had been locked in at Ukrainian ports since the Russian invasion on February 24th. Harvest Commodities claimed to own two other ships that were in Novorossiysk, Russia, which were being loaded. These were the Bronco (IMO 9675717) with 10,000 tons and a ship that Harvest Commodities identified as the MV Shark, details of which are somewhat elusive, as no vessel with that name fits the bill of vessels shown by MarineTraffic to be in the Russian Black Sea port. Harvest Commodities chairman Gaurav Srivastra was also reported as saying at a meeting in Jakarta with Arsari Group CEO Hashim Jojoadikusuomo that the Bronco was owned by Harvest Commodities SA. This does not appear to be the case, as the ship is operated by Evalend Co SA. Riva Wind, too, is not registered with Equasis as being owned by any of the companies mentioned by Harvest Commodities.
