Crude oil tanker Maharshi Parashuram (IMO 9034547) was disabled and adrift on August 10th due to limited engine power which began on August 9th. Vessels in the vicinity were
requested to keep a sharp lookout, assist if possible and report to the MRCC Mumbai. As of August 12th the vessel was reported as underway north-west of Mumbai on India’s west coast.

A Capesize bulk carrier suffered engine failure early in the morning local time August 6th in the Gulf of Tonkin about some 120nm west of southwestern Hainan, at a time when a tropical storm was approaching the area. A Chinese SAR ship responded and later the same day took the disabled bulk carrier on tow to Shenzhen (Hong Kong) waters, arriving there on August 12th, where it berthed. The vessel was tentatively identified as Taiwanese bulk
carrier FPMC B 102 (IMO 9481635), which had been sailing from anchorage in Son Duong, Vietnam to Hong Kong – Nansha, at the time of its breakdown.
2011-built, Liberia-flagged, 62,272 gt FPMC B 102 is owned nu FPMC 102 Marine Corp care of manager Formosa Plastics Marine Corp of Taipei City, Taiwan,China. It is entered with Britannia on behalf of FPMC 102 Marine Corp. As of August 14th the vessel was moored at Shenzhen, southern China.
Korean oil products tanker 103 Dong Sung (IMO 9842267) was reported to have collided with Chinese bulk carrier Kuai Bang Hai 18 (IMO 9330678) at around 09:30 Seoul time August 11th at Busan outer anchorage. Apparently the tanker was scheduled to bunker the bulk carrier, but the ship instead struck the anchored Kuai Bang Hai 18. The bulk carrier suffered a hull breach in ballast tank area two metres above the waterline, with an ensuing ballast water leak. The Kuai Bang Hai 18 moved to inner Busan anchorage in the
afternoon, while tanker sailed to Ulsan.
2018-built, Korea-flagged, 498 gt 103 Dong Sung is owned and managed by Dong Sung Oil Shipping of Busan, South Korea. ISM manager is Gaon Shipping Co Ltd of Busan, South Korea. As of August 14th the vessel was at Yeosu anchorage, South Korea.
2009-built, China-flagged, 32,578 gt Kuai Bang Hai 18 is owned and managed by Hainan Kuaibanghai Shipping Co of Hainan, China. It is entered with American Club on behalf of Hainan Kuaibanghai Shipping Co. As of August 14th it was en route from Busan to Vostochnyy, Russia, ETA August 15th.
