Fire broke out on board of chemical tanker Antares (IMO 9030450) while it was
docked at Puerto Bolivar, Colombia, on July 19th. Four personnel on board had
been carrying out repairs and maintenance duties. They alerted the Captain of
the port and port firefighters and an emergency team responded. The fire was
extinguished after several hours. The extent of damage was not known. The tanker
had been docked in port for about three years, but was undergoing repairs In
order to resume trading. AIS has been off for some three years.
1993-built, Togo-flagged, 892 gt Antares is owned by
Carbean Zahra SA care of manager Ergo Group Warranty of Panama City, Panama.
Following a court ruling in Keral on July 18th, general
cargo ship Maia-1 (IMO 9358010) was arrested
in Kochin, India, because of non-payment of bunker bills of $23,500 to an
Estonian company. However the ship was berthed the same day at Kochin to offload
cargo of arms for Indian Navy.
2006-built, Russia-flagged, 9,611 gt Maia-1 is owned and
managed by Transmorflot LLC of Akhty, Russia. ISM manager is Marine Trans
Shipping LLC of Astrakhan, Russia.
LPG tanker Seaspeed (IMO 9763045) brushed the pier catwalk, at San Lorenzo, on the River Parana,
Argentina, during the afternoon of July 16th. The vessel was berthing at YPF
Chacabuco Gas Terminal at the time. Damages were slight to zero, but it was a near
miss. The flawed approach was caused by strong winds.
2017-built, Malta-flagged, 25,079 gt Seaspeed is owned by
Varona shipping Inc care of manager Thenemaris LNG Inc of Athens, Greece. It is
entered with Standard Club on behalf of Varona Shipping Inc. As of July 20th
the vessel was at anchor of La Plata, Argentina
Oil products tanker Angel
33 (IMO 9011404) has been reported abandoned and adrift some 400 nm NE of
eastern Papua New Guinea, South Pacific, as of the evening of July 16th. Tanker
was unlit and navigational lights were off. The ship sailed into the area from
Kaohsiung. The Angel 33’s manager said
that repairs were being carried out to the vessel after a leak left it in
danger of sinking. The crew returned to the vessel a few days after abandoning
it. The master of the Angel 33 had ordered the crew to abandon ship on Saturday
July 16th after the vessel sprung a leak in its engine room while in the South
Pacific off the coast of Papua New Guinea, a Jie Sheng senior executive said.

as owned by Sailing Prosper Ltd care of manager Jie Sheng Ship Management Ltd
