Four FEUs fell overboard from container ship MSC Nita (IMO 9084607) during the morning of October 23rd at pier A of the
Tiv terminal in the Marghera harbour in Venice, during a cargo operation. All of
the boxes were empty. Two were pushed to the pier by a Transbagagli work boat.
The other two sank, but were hooked up and recovered later by the Transmar
company. The container ship left Marghera again on October 24th and arrived in
Trieste on October 25th. The accident was reported to heave been caused by crane
operator error. As of October 27th the vessel was en route form
Koper, Slovenia, to Izmir, Turkey, ETA October 30th.

1996-built, Liberia-flagged, 15,859 gt MSC Nita is owned
by Nita Oceanway Ltd care of manager MSC Shipmanagement Ltd of Limassol,
Cyprus. It is entered with North of England Club on behalf of Conglomerate
Maritime Ltd.

More details have emerged surrounding the sinking of tug Pothitos
III (IMO 9248617) at the island port of Patmos on October 21st (see yesterday’s IMN) while assisting incoming cruise ship Azamara Journey (IMO
9200940) in a bay east of Patmos. The cruise ship reportedly suddenly dragged
the tug, while the circumstances have not been formally established A deckhand
survived, but the captain of the tug died. The tug was sitting sufficiently
deep not to hinder navigation.

2000-built, Malta-flagged, 30,277 gt Azamara Journey is
owned by SP Cruises Vessel AJ Ltd care of V Ships Leisure SAM of Monaco-Ville,
Monaco. It is entered with UK Club on behalf of SP Cruises Vessel (AJ) Ltd. As
of October 27th the Azamara Journey was moored at Piraeus, Greece.

General cargo ship Angon (IMO 9320635) suffered a
blackout on October 23rd while en route from Amsterdam to Algeciras
with 4,822mt of steel scrap as cargo. Eight crew members were on board. The
engines were running at minimal capacity and the crew was unable to use them to
manoeuvre the vessel. Early on October 24th the air compressor was fixed by the
crew and the ship resumed its voyage with an ETA of October 29. However, as of
October 27th the vessel was moored at Gijon, Spain.

2006-built, Portugal-flagged, 2,945 gt Angon is owned by
Navinorte SA care of manager Junquera maritima SL of Gijon, Asturias, Spain. It
is entered with Britannia on behalf of Navinorte SA.

Cargo ship Pola Anfisa (IMO 9851115) suffered a
technical failure during its transit of the Bosphorus early on October 22nd.
It moored at Büyükdere anchorage, Repairs were commenced by the crew, and the
vessel remained stationary. The vessel was en route from Novorossiysk to
Ambarli, Turkey.

2019-built, Russia-flagged, 6,266 gt Pola Anfisa is owned
and managed by Pola Rise Ltd of St Petersburg, Russia. ISM manager is Inok TM
Ltd of St Petersburg, Russia. It is entered with Standard Club on behalf of
Pola Rise Ltd. As of October 27th the vessel was moored at Istanbul
(northern side).
