There was an explosion in the funnel section of /oil products tanker Torc (IMO 9544683) on
August 28th during welding maintenance work at Bandirma, Turkey, Marmara sea. Two crew were hospitalized as a result. The explosion was followed by a fire, but this was extinguished by port firefighters.

As of August 30th the vessel was in the Marmara Sea, moored at Bandirma, Turkey, where it had arrived on August 28th, having left Reni, River Danube, Ukraine, on August 24th.

2010-built, Malta-flagged, 8,391 gt Torc is owned by Torc Shipping Ltd care of manager Besiktas Likid Tasimacilik of Istanbul, Turkey. It is entered with Steamship Mutual (European syndicate) on behalf of Torc Shipping Ltd.

General cargo ship Yalikoy (IMO 9166510) ran aground off Gelibolu, northern Dardanelles, Turkey, on August 27th while entering the Strait in a southerly direction. The ship was en route from Ukraine to Greece, carrying grain or wheat.

As of August 30th the vessel was at anchor at Amfilochia, Greece, where it arrived on August 27th.

1999-built, St Vincent & Grenadines-flagged, 2,950 gt is owned by Black Sea Shipping Trading Ltd care of manager White Seagull Shipping Ltd of Mersin, Turkey. It is entered with West of England Club (Eastern Claims Team) on behalf of Black Sea Trading Inc.

A bunker oil spill occurred on cargo ship Al Saad (IMO 9436111) in the port of
Monfalcone, Adriatic Sea, Italy, during the evening of August 22nd. The bulk carrier, which arrived at the port from Paradip via Suez, lost part of its fuel into the water during bunkering. The cause of the accident remained unknown. A slick of diesel affected a section of the quay from bollard number 30 to 42 and required the intervention of an anti-pollution company. The mayor of Monfalcone ordered a ban on bathing on the beach of Marina Julia, given that an oily stain appeared on the shore. The incident was immediately reported to the Port Authority and was also being dealt with by the Port System Authority of the
Eastern Adriatic Sea. Some 60 m/3 of oiled water were removed.

2010-built, Marshall Islands-flagged, 33,547 gt Al Saad is owned by Safeen Feeders 12 Ltd care of Zeaborn Ship Management of Hamburg, Germany. It is entered with Standard Club (International Division) on behalf of Safeen Feeders 12 Ltd. As of August 30th the vessel was at Monfalcone, Italy in the Adriatic Sea, having arrived on August 20th.

A land technician working on LNG tanker LNG River Orashi (IMO 9266982) fell into the water as the vessel was leaving Huelva, Spain, on August 25th. The vessel anchored in Gulf of Cadiz, apparently so that some maintenance works could be carried out. Bonny, Nigeria was its port of destination. The land technician was descending from the ship down to a service boat after completing his job, to be taken ashore, but he apparently slipped and fell into water. He was rescued, but had to be transferred to hospital with hypothermia.

2004-built, Bermuda-flagged, 97,561 gt LNG River Orashi is owned by BW Gas LNG Carriers Pte Ltd care of manager BW Gas AS of Lysake, Norway. ISM manager is BW Fleet Management AS of Lysaker, Norway. It is entered with Gard on behalf of BW Gas LNG Carriers Pte Ltd.

As of August 28th the vessel was off West Africa en route from Huelva, Spain, to Bonny, Nigeria, ETA October 1st.

Passengers on cruise ship Celebrity Eclipse (IMO 9404314) were stranded in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada after a tugboat strike on August 28th. The ship had been due
to depart that afternoon, but was unable to leave the Port of Vancouver without the tugs. An onboard announcement from the captain said that the vessel was tied to a barge whose crew were on strike, with the barge crew refusing to move it. Other tugboat companies still operating in the port would not move the barge either, because they do not own it. By August 30th the ship was underway again, travelling from Vancouver to the Hubard Glacier.

2010-built, Malta-flagged, 121,878 gt Celebrity Eclipse is owned by Celebrity Eclipse Inc care of manager RCL Cruises Ltd of Weybridge, UK. It is entered with Steamship Mutual (Americas Syndicate) on behalf of Celebrity Eclipse Inc.
