Bulk carrier Philipp Oldendorff (IMO 9540869) was shifted to an anchorage area at Ahirkapi, Istanbul, under its own power and dropped anchor, subsequent to its drifting onto
anchored bulk carrier SSI Providence (IMO 9883065)during the evening of August 5th (see yesterday’s IMN, Round-up). An incident investigation file has been opened by the harbour master incident investigation desk. The vessel’s departure permission was cancelled until the completion of damage surveys and investigations. No injury and pollution were reported due to the incident. The vessel. as well as the ‘SSI Providence’, remained stationary at Istanbul anchorage as of August 7th.

2012-built, Liberia-flagged, 64,769 gt Philipp Oldendorff is owned and managed by Oldendorff Carriers GmbH & Co of Lübeck, Germany. ISM manager is Synergy Marine Germany GmbH. It is entered with UK Club on behalf of Oldendorff Carriers GmbH & Co. KG.

2020-built, Marshall Islands-flagged, 23,232 gt SSI Providence is owned by Blue Horizon Shipping Inc care of manager Densay Shipping & Trading DMCC of Dubai, UAE. ISM manager is Densay Ship Management & Tech of Dubai, UAE. It is entered with Skuld (Skuld Copenhagen Business Unit) on behalf of Densay Shipping & Trading DMCC. As of August
6th the vessel was at anchor in Marmara Sea, Istanbul.

After the fire aboard general cargo ship Efe (IMO 8944070) on July 1st, surveyors issued a damage report and the repairs required. These were commenced by the shore-based technical teams, as per the class surveyor’s recommendations. A new set of spare parts was provided by the owners from an authorized manufacturer. The ship remained stationary in the Tuzla shipyard area as of August 5th.

1998-built, St Kitts & Nevis-flagged, 199 gt Efe is owned by Ege Lines Inc care of manager Ege Denizcilik of Istanbul, Turkey. It is entered with Thomas Miller Specialty (Hamburg)

The Elbeik (IMO 6718427) was photographed in abandoned state at the quay in the port of
Tarragona on Aug 4, 2022, with no repairs having taken place after a fire.

Passenger ship Apollon Hellas (IMO 8807105) allided with the wharf upon the mooring operation in the port of Aegina, Greece around midday on August 6th. The ferry was on a
scheduled route from the port of Piraeus to the port of Aegina, with 591 passengers on board. The ship moored safely in the port, but the mooring cable got entangled in the starboard side propeller shaft, causing the main engine to become blocked. The passengers and their vehicles were safely disembarked at the port. The ship was inspected by members of the Local Ship Inspection Unit of the Port Authority, while professional divers unblocked the propeller shaft. The Port Authority banned the ferry from sailing until the repair of the damage and the presentation of a certificate of class maintenance by the monitoring classification society. The passengers who had a scheduled departure for the port of Piraeus were forwarded on another ship.
