Marintec China will return to Shanghai on 2–5 December 2025. Organised by Informa Markets and the Shanghai Society of Naval Architects & Marine Engineers (SSNAME), the biennial exhibition will be held under the theme “Innovation and Collaboration for Maritime Sustainability.”
Since its founding, Marintec China has taken place 21 times and has become one of the largest maritime exhibitions worldwide.
The 2023 edition reached record size, and the 2025 event is expected to expand further, covering 110,000 square metres and hosting more than 2,200 exhibitors, including 16 national and regional pavilions.
Germany will present the largest international pavilion, with Cyprus joining for the first time.
Confirmed exhibitors include shipbuilders such as Fincantieri, HD Hyundai, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Kawasaki Heavy Industries and Ulstein, as well as equipment and system suppliers including Wartsila, Rolls-Royce, ABB, Cummins, Accelleron, Huisman, Kongsberg, MacGregor, Schneider Electric and Siemens.
Major international classification societies including ABS, Bureau Veritas, DNV and Lloyd’s Register will also attend.
On the domestic side, delegations from 24 Chinese provinces and municipalities will participate, led by local governments from Zhoushan, Nantong, Zhenjiang and Pudong. Companies such as China State Shipbuilding Corporation, COSCO Shipping, China Merchants Industry and ZPMC are among the leading exhibitors.
Academic institutions including Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Harbin Engineering University, Wuhan University of Technology and Jiangxi University of Science and Technology will contribute to the Academic Zone.
The global shipbuilding market has seen five years of growth since 2021 but is entering what the China Shipbuilding Industry Association describes as a critical phase. In the first half of 2025, transactions totaled 26.58 million CGT, down 17.5% year-on-year and 4% below the five-year average.
Deliveries rose 9.6% year-on-year to 21.69 million CGT, while the order backlog stood at 160 million CGT at the end of June, up 18.6% year-on-year.
China accounted for 46.6% of global output, 63.7% of new orders and 57.2% of the backlog.
Marintec China 2025 will also feature the Senior Maritime Forum, focusing on digitalisation and green technologies, along with specialised zones such as Marintec Cruise Interiors and the new Marintec Innovation – Energytec.
Sustainability initiatives under the #MarintecCares campaign include reduced construction materials, digital alternatives to printed materials and the promotion of renewable energy sources.
Norway has been designated Guest Country of Honour, with the Norwegian Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries leading a high-level delegation.
According to the organisers, the event aims to serve as a platform for international cooperation and industry innovation.
