The UK maritime industry’s first ever Maritime Innovation Week has been created on the back of the Government’s Maritime 2050 strategy to help ports across the UK achieve their target goals
A free to attend, four-day conference for the maritime supply chain, Maritime Innovation Week will go beyond discussing Maritime 2050 challenges and take a “proactive approach to delivering viable and innovative solutions”, a statement said.
The event takes place in Newcastle and London from 13-16 June 2022. Each day will explore a different theme crucial to the fulfilment of the Maritime 2050 strategy.
The media release said, “Maritime Innovation Week will challenge traditional approaches and showcase the very best of Industry 4.0 thinking and action for maritime applications.
The event brings together some of the most innovative minds from both inside and outside the maritime sectur, to provide insights and collaboration opportunities across many of the industry’s most pressing topics.
“The case for disruptive innovation has never been more compelling. With a clear opportunity to become cleaner, smarter, more efficient, data-driven, innovative and sustainable, our industry can only achieve more and go faster by working together.”
There will be a different theme for each day:
Confirmed speakers include Minister for Maritime Robert Courts, Minister for Investment Lord Grimstone, the UKSHORE team as well as industry pioneers Equinor, Rolls Royce, Artemis Technologies, leading US aerospace experts – and many, many more.
Maritime Innovation Week is being delivered by the Maritime 2050 Innovation Hub at Port of Tyne, alongside event partners Department for Transport, Connected Places Catapult, Maritime UK, the British Ports Association, Digital Catapult, the North East England Chamber of Commerce and in conjunction with London Tech Week.
With two hackathons and two Dragons’ Den style ‘Innovation Live’ pitch events also taking place throughout the week, Maritime Innovation Week “seeks to go beyond discussing Maritime 2050 challenges and will take a proactive approach to delivering viable and innovative solutions”.
