The director of the shipowning organization participated in a discussion on the topic hosted by the Nautico di Molfetta
Training and work in the maritime sector: the director general of Confitarma Luca Sisto spoke at the conference “Professional opportunities for the recent graduate of the Istituto Tecnico Nautico”, a moment of discussion dedicated to the future of young people and maritime professions hosted by the Nautico di Molfetta, which was attended by numerous national institutions.
The meeting, enriched by the testimonies of young officers and students and by the participation of the technical training world, represented a significant step to reflect on the skills needed in the new shipping scenario, between the green transition, emerging technologies and increasing digitalization.
In his speech, Sisto recalled the strategic role of the Italian maritime sector, with a modern and highly specialized fleet that employs over 64,000 workers and is a pillar for the country’s competitiveness. He emphasized how shipping companies need prepared, motivated young people capable of seizing the challenges of change.
He also highlighted that the training path of the ITS Academy today represents a fundamental channel to guarantee high-level professionalism and concrete employment opportunities, thanks to the integration between the classroom, technology and periods of boarding.
“In a rapidly evolving sector – Sisto observed – investing in people means investing in the future: enhancing human capital, simplifying pathways, strengthening skills and offering adequate tools to support inclusive and sustainable growth”.
