Maritime Rescue launches a new edition of the Practical Safety Tips Guide for Nautical Activities

This summer, don’t be lured by the siren songs and download your Guide. Enjoying the sea is a privilege, but doing so safely is a responsibility. That’s why the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, the Directorate General of Merchant Marine and Maritime Rescue, have launched a new edition of the recreational boating safety campaign, with a clear message: prevention saves lives.

Under the slogan ‘Don’t be lured by the siren songs,’ this year’s nautical safety campaign focuses on habits many boaters have normalized and which, unknowingly, can put them at serious risk. Alcohol consumption onboard, lack of maintenance of life jackets and life-saving equipment, inadequate supervision of minors on deck, or poor fuel planning, among others, can severely endanger the safety of all crew members.

To help prevent emergency situations, a new and comprehensive Guide of practical safety tips for nautical activities has been prepared, compiling the main recommendations, regulations, and best practices for safe and responsible navigation.
