Must read

The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has signed an agreement with Hizone Logistics to establish a logistics park for container offloading and storage at King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The project entails an investment of SAR30 million and will occupy an area of 47,000 square meters. The planned park is intended to support Mawani’s efforts to “boost the competitiveness of Saudi ports and reinforce their role in facilitating trade and securing supply chains,” in line with the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, which “aims to position the Kingdom as a global logistics hub connecting three continents.”

According to the SPA report, the new facility will offer specialized logistics services and facilities, including yards and warehouses capable of handling 600,000 tonnes annually. The project is also expected to create more than 100 direct and indirect jobs in the logistics sector.

The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) is a government agency of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia responsible for managing, operating and developing the country’s commercial and industrial seaports, excluding economic-city and military ports. It was established in 1976 as a specialized authority to centralize port governance and oversight at the national level, with its headquarters in Riyadh.
