Minister Salvini in Livorno meets President Breda (CCIAA), updates on the Tirrenica

Must read

LIVORNO – The Tyrrhenian Corridor, declared a priority by the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Matteo Salvini, was the focus of a private meeting between the president of the Chamber of Commerce of Maremma and Tirreno Riccardo Breda and the Minister.

“I gave the Minister a preview of the latest update of the White Paper on the infrastructural priorities of Tuscany, a report produced by Unioncamere Toscana with the support of Uniontrasporti which we will then make public with a presentation – explains President Breda – Knowing that he would address the issue of the Darsena Europa and other interventions on the infrastructure of Livorno with trade associations, I emphasized to the Minister the crucial issue of road traffic, which is that of the Tyrrhenian Corridor, fundamental for the provinces of Livorno and Grosseto”. Salvini updated President Breda on the project: “the state of the art, unfortunately, is that reported in the White Paper and the Minister confirmed that for the Tyrrhenian Corridor the transfer of responsibilities from SAT to Anas has not yet been definitively completed and that the resources have not yet been allocated.”

To date, we recall, the Tyrrhenian Corridor in Tuscany consists of a motorway section (A12) connecting Genoa and San Pietro in Palazzi and the SS1 Aurelia between San Pietro in Palazzi and Tarquinia. The SAT project, which envisaged the construction of the entire motorway section between Livorno and Civitavecchia (242km), has seen in Tuscany the completion of only the two sections between Livorno and Rosignano (37 km) and between Rosignano and San Pietro in Palazzi (4 km). In Lazio, the section between Civitavecchia and Tarquinia (15 km) was completed in 2016, leaving the section between San Pietro in Palazzi and Tarquinia (187 km) to be built. The safety improvement of the current SS1 Aurelia road system is also a priority to try to prevent accidents, especially on the Grosseto section.

“The Deputy Prime Minister explained that a company has been tasked with finalizing the latest cost assessments for the project, in order to then examine all the solutions for the transfer of responsibilities – adds the president – The Minister assured us that within a month and a half he will give us an update on the process of this infrastructure”.

The path initiated by the Chamber of Commerce with trade associations and trade union organizations of the provinces of Livorno and Grosseto on the topic of infrastructure therefore continues: “this meeting with the Minister was fundamental to get an update on the Tyrrhenian Corridor and on the other important works for the territory and we will meet with the associations and trade unions to share what the next steps will be”, concludes Breda.
