Mintra and Energy Innovation Tackle Wind Skills Gap

Must read

Digital learning company Mintra has teamed up with Energy Innovation to launch a new suite of online courses designed to train the next generation of wind energy professionals. The collaboration aims to bridge a critical skills gap as the global energy transition gains pace.

As the world races toward a low-carbon future, the demand for skilled workers in renewable energy is growing faster than supply. Recognising this, Mintra and Energy Innovation have joined forces to launch a new eLearning suite focused on wind energy, designed to equip learners with the knowledge and confidence to step into one of the most dynamic sectors of the energy transition.

The collaboration combines Mintra’s digital learning expertise with Energy Innovation’s accredited industry training experience. Together, they have developed three interactive modules covering the fundamentals of wind power, environmental and social impacts, and the technical workings of wind turbines. The courses, totalling 3.5 hours of online learning, are accessible to learners worldwide and are intended for both newcomers and professionals transitioning from other industries such as oil, gas, and maritime.

Frank Emil Moen, CEO and Managing Partner at Energy Innovation, said the partnership addresses an urgent global challenge. “There is a real risk of a workforce shortfall unless we act now. Our collaboration with Mintra is central to addressing this challenge. By combining Mintra’s digital learning expertise with our blended training approach, we are delivering scalable, high-quality accredited training with global reach, building a strong foundation of learning for the future of wind energy.”

Moen added that the eLearning approach enhances knowledge retention and gives learners the flexibility to study at their own pace. “Working with a trusted digital training provider like Mintra allows us to strengthen both the quality and reach of our programmes.”

The courses offer practical insights into how existing skills can be applied in renewable roles. Learners can take the modules individually or as a bundle, gaining a well-rounded understanding of the wind sector’s technical, environmental, and operational dimensions.

Kjetil Flood, Chief Commercial Officer at Mintra, said the collaboration marks an important step for the company’s expansion into the wind energy market. “This partnership marks an important step for Mintra into the wind energy sector. It ensures our customers have the fundamental knowledge to seize opportunities in a rapidly evolving industry.”

The initiative reflects a growing recognition that the global shift to clean energy will depend not only on new technologies, but on a workforce ready to power the change.
