MMA Coral will be fitted out with new equipment to carry out subsea operations
Western Australia-headquartered high-spec offshore vessel owner MMA Offshore’sMMA Coral has won a contract to provide vessel support to Beach Energy’s two production platforms located in the Bass Strait.
The anchor-handling tug supply vessel will also provide subsea inspection and survey services and will support planned drilling operations, according to a statement from MMA Offshore.
“Prior to delivery, MMA Coral will be fitted with a work-class ROV spread to carry out specialised subsea scopes. Certain work scopes will also utilise an innovative modular active heave-compensated lifting spread from the vessel, supplied by local Victorian company Thrust Maritime,” the company said.
Commencing in late November 2022, the contract is for a firm period of one year with an additional one-year option.
The 2,400-dwt vessel will also be marketed to the broader region for ad hoc work scopes in addition to Beach Energy’s operations, according to MMA Offshore.
Commenting on the contract award, MMA managing director David Ross said, “We are delighted to be supporting Beach Energy and look forward to delivering our operations safely and efficiently. With the installation of new subsea technology on MMA Coral, we are pleased to be expanding our operational portfolio further within the Bass Strait and adjacent region.”
MMA Coral operates predominately for clients in the southeast Asia region but has performed a number of scopes in Australia. According to MMA Offshore, the 70-m vessel’s 108-tonne bollard pull makes it well-equipped for anchor handling scopes, ocean towing and general supply requirements. The vessel’s dynamic positioning also provides manoeuvrability for working alongside offshore facilities and its cargo capacity provides reliable supply support.
