MOL completes cloud software overhaul

Must read

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) and MOL Drybulk have completed the replacement of their current core software systems for ship operations, fuel procurement, finance and accounting, moving to a cloud-based SaaS (Software as a Service) model incorporating applications from Veson Nautical, ZeroNorth and SAP.

Veson Nautical’s IMOS Platform will be used for ship operations, covering processes like charter contract management, fuel management and expense control, while the ZeroNorth Bunker procurement system will be used for fuel purchasing and analytics.

SAP Japan’s S/4HANA Cloud will provide additional functionality for financial and accounting operations.

MOL and MOL Drybulk incorporated the SaaS systems to pursue a ‘Fit-to-Standard’ approach, with the goal of standardising their processes for the operations covered by the software.

The firms say that they plan to accelerate their efforts to use digital technology to address various management issues, such as GHG emissions, by sharing accumulated vessel and operational data, while leveraging the renewal of the core systems as a foundation to promote further digital transformation initiatives.
