It will add to the already existing connections with northern and southeastern Asia and with the Trans-Tasman

Wellington – CentrePort has announced the arrival, starting next February, of a new weekly service operated by MSC, which will connect New Zealand importers and exporters with the American East Coast. The new MSC Eagle Service will call at Wellington from February, adding to the already existing connections with northern and southeastern Asia and with the Trans-Tasman. According to CentrePort’s Chief Executive Officer, Anthony Delaney, the new service, in combination with the other already operational routes, will represent important support for New Zealand’s exporters and importers and for the economy of the central region. The initiative will also favor the creation of new jobs at the port. “This development continues the positive trend of CentrePort and sits alongside the existing services and those recently announced that call at our port. We thank our customers for the trust in the work we have carried out since the impact of the 2016 Kaikōura earthquake,” stated Delaney. Thanks to the services that call at Wellington, customers will be able to use CentrePort as a hub and access competitive transit times to markets like Australia, Asia, and the Americas. Delaney emphasized that the arrival of MSC Eagle, together with the other connections, demonstrates the efficiency and productivity of the port following the investments made in resilience and operational capacity.
