Must read

Mersin International Port (MIP) achieved a historic success with the seamless berthing of the 400-meter giant container ship MSC DITTE at its new East Med Hub 2 (EMH2) Terminal. The 880-meter-long terminal comfortably hosted the ship with a capacity of 19,313 TEU, demonstrating MIP’s capability to accommodate the world’s largest vessels.

The ceremony was hosted by MIP General Manager Ajay Kumar Singh and attended by Singapore Embassy Chargé d’Affaires ad interim Ann Margaret Mathew and prominent figures from the maritime sector. Singh emphasized that giant ships like MSC DITTE accelerate port operations, reduce costs, and lower carbon emissions.

The EMH2 Terminal, with its deep berths, high-capacity cranes, and digital operational infrastructure, strengthens connections to Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. MSC Mersin Regional Manager Uğur Tosuner stated that MSC DITTE will provide fast and direct shipments to West Africa and the Far East under the “tiger service.” Furthermore, the “MSC TÜRKİYE” ship, symbolizing MSC’s trust in Turkey, is expected to visit MIP soon.

Singapore Embassy representative Ann Margaret Mathew highlighted the EMH2 Terminal’s contribution to economic growth and the strengthening of the global supply chain, emphasizing PSA’s confidence in MIP and Turkey’s long-term potential.
