MSC strengthens Iroko service with new direct call

Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) announced that it will reinforce its Iroko service with a new direct call at Cape Town, in South Africa.

According to the shipping company, this improvement provides a direct connection between Cape Town and Asia, offering faster transit times and an optimized service for both dry and reefer cargo.

“With the aim of offering more comprehensive port coverage, MSC continues to strengthen its network and support the growing trade between South Africa and the main Asian markets, providing efficient, reliable, and customer-focused connections,” stated the maritime company.

The first direct call at Cape Town will occur with the container ship MSC Anchorage, scheduled for December 11 and 12, 2025.

Transit times now include a direct connection to Singapore in 15 days, to Xiamen in 21 days, to Ningbo in 24 days, and to Nansha in 27 days. There are also transshipment links available, with Chattogram accessible in approximately 28 days, Shanghai in 25 days, and Port Klang in 23 days.

The new rotation of the Iroko service will have calls at the ports of Ningbo – Nansha – Singapore – Pointe Noire – Cotonou – Apapa – Tincan – Onne – Lobito – Cape Town – Singapore – Xiamen – Ningbo.
