Mumbai’s Cruise Terminal: Spread over 4.15 lakh square feet, the terminal has been designed to host some of the largest cruise liners in the world.

Mumbai: PM Modi inaugurated Mumbai’s new International Cruise Terminal, giving a boost to tourism. The terminal, equipped with world-class infrastructure, is expected to serve as a gateway for both domestic and international travellers in the coming years.
Features of New International Cruise Terminal
Spread over 4.15 lakh square feet, the terminal has been designed to host some of the largest cruise liners in the world. It can accommodate up to five ships at the same time, making it one of the busiest cruise hubs in Asia. The building is equipped with 72 immigration and check-in counters, along with parking space for more than 300 vehicles, ensuring smooth movement for passengers.
Several well-known global cruise operators are preparing to bring their ships to Mumbai. These include Celebrity Cruises’ Celebrity Millennium, Regent Seven Seas’ Seven Seas Navigator, Crystal Cruises’ Crystal Symphony and Crystal Serenity, Oceania Cruises’ Sirena and Nautica, and Silversea’s Silver Muse. Alongside them, India’s Cordelia Cruises will continue to run domestic routes to Goa, Kochi and Lakshadweep.
First Ship Schedule
The first scheduled ship at the new terminal will be Cordelia’s Empress, which is expected to arrive in Mumbai on 22 September. It will set sail the same day for Goa and Lakshadweep before returning to the city on 27 September.
Reportedly, the Mumbai International Cruise Terminal has been built to handle nearly 7 lakh passengers a year and manage around 200 ships annually. It can also accommodate cruise liners carrying up to 500 passengers.
The project forms part of the government’s Cruise Bharat Mission, which aims to develop India as a leading cruise tourism destination by 2029.
