Canadian vessel owners and terminal operators will be able to use technology from Navtek Naval Technologies to reduce emissions and achieve net-zero carbon
Navtek has formed a partnership with Toronto-based Oppsense Inc to promote its holistic approach to maritime decarbonisation in the Canadian market. This will enable tug owners to use the ZeeTug all-electric tugboat design for future emissons-free ship towage and terminal operations and for port authorities to consider Navtek’s ZeePort, a zero-emissions electric port concept.
Navtek Naval Technologies deputy general manager Zahit Ogurlu said this partnership “marks a new era of co-operation in which we will offer ZeeTug in the Canadian market.
He added this agreement “supports Navtek’s holistic approach to the maritime decarbonisation concept: from renewable energy solutions to zero-emissions vessels.”
Navtek’s first ZeeTug Gisas Power has provided zero-emissions towage and ship handling in Turkey since 2020, and its second version, Gisas Power II, was launched in November.
Oppsense said Navtek’s marine concepts and technologies include fully electric marine vessels, alternative fuels, offshore wind energy and zero-emissions port development.
It is a Canadian company catalysing the growth of start-ups, corporates and organisations through business opportunities in the Canadian market.
