The modernization of the Cantabrian fishing fleet will be subsidized with 1.5 million euros next year, as has been made public in the BOC of August 27. The aid will be aimed at reducing the impact of fishing on the marine environment, energy efficiency and climate change mitigation, improvements in working conditions and safety on board, and the replacement or modernization of engines.
Vessel owners and operators who meet the established requirements and whose vessels have their home port in the Autonomous Community of Cantabria may be beneficiaries of the aid. It is worth noting that this aid has increased by 50% in the last three years and affects more than a hundred vessels.
The intensity of public aid ranges from 40% for engines, energy efficiency, and safety with increased capacity; to 50% of the total investment, if capacity is not increased. Investments in improvements to working conditions and safety on board without an increase in capacity can reach up to 75%.
The aid will be co-financed by the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF 2021-2027) and the application deadline ends on November 28 of this year. Applications must be submitted, using the standardized form, to the Minister of Rural Development, Livestock, Fisheries and Food.
