Ambassador Cruise Line, a new shipping company, called at the Ports of Stockholm 20 May
The company’s vessel Ambience will call at Frihamnen Port in Stockholm twice during the 2022 cruise season.
Ambassador Cruise Line is a new cruise line aimed at British tourists in the 50+ demographic. The company currently operates a single vessel, 1991-built Ambience, built by Fincantieri for Princess Cruises and later sold to Ocean Builders Central which intended the vessel to be a floating residence in the Gulf of Panama. But when those plans fell through, it was resold to Ambassador Cruise Line in 2021.
This year, Ports of Stockholm expects to see nearly 220 cruise ship call bookings. The British operator has chosen to offer cruises in the Baltic Sea and through Stockholm’s archipelago. Vessels this year will spend longer in port, as St Petersburg has been removed from the Baltic Sea cruise routes.
The City Commissioner responsible for Ports of Stockholm Joakim Larsson said, “We are proud to be able to welcome a new shipping company, Ambassador Cruise Line, to Ports of Stockholm. It is wonderful to see this investment in tourism. We wish Ambassador Cruise Line success and the passengers a very enjoyable visit to Stockholm.”
Ambassador Cruise Line will add a second cruise vessel, Ambition, to its fleet. Formerly AIDAmira, the ship is being refitted and will enter service 2023.
