New record set! Guangzhou Shipyard International’s 50,000-ton methanol dual-fuel oil tanker launched

On August 26, the No. 3 50,000-ton methanol dual-fuel ship built by China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI) for J.P. Morgan was launched. During the construction of this ship, the project team actively implemented lean management concepts and vigorously promoted the forward shifting of work processes. The launch transition phase review scored 99 points, setting a new record for the launch condition of similar ships built by GSI.

By the time of the launch, all rooms in the superstructure of this ship were fully enclosed, furniture was installed in place, equipment wiring was complete, lighting was powered, and the water supply and vacuum sewage systems all met usage standards. Prior to the launch, the completeness rate of the ship’s equipment wiring reached 98%, with only some deck cargo oil tank equipment remaining to be wired, clearing major obstacles for subsequent large-scale equipment commissioning. By identifying the critical path for commissioning in advance, the commissioning of main deck machinery, core engine room systems, life support equipment, and the ship control system was completed before the launch, laying a solid foundation for shortening the dock period.

The ship was launched with a high level of completeness, fully demonstrating the project team’s precise overall planning and their ability to efficiently and quality-assuredly advance the execution of complex tasks such as plan implementation. This has accumulated valuable experience for the construction of the series of ships in this project.

It is reported that this type of ship is equipped with an advanced methanol dual-fuel power system, features ship-to-shore power system Ready interfaces and rotor sail Ready design, and is configured with a new type of shaft generator, enabling the recovery and utilization of energy during navigation. It possesses excellent performance in energy saving, emission reduction, and environmental protection, making it highly favored by the market.
