New Unifeeder Klaipeda service begins at Port of Immingham

Must read

A new weekly container service linking the UK to Lithuania has been launched by DP World’s Unifeeder.

The vessel will leave Klaipeda in Lithuania on Friday, arriving into the UK’s Port of Immingham on Monday. For the maiden voyage, Elbspring arrived in the Humber on 15 September.

Simon Bird, Regional Director for the Humber ports at ABP, owner of the Port of Immingham, said: “We’re delighted Unifeeder has launched this new route. This is great for the market, again showing the proximity of Immingham to the European markets and the need for customers to bring their goods in through faster and more direct routes.”

Container volumes have increased by over 40% at Immingham over the past five years, said ABP, as customers look for more direct access to UK’s North and midlands with associated environmental benefits of shifting tonne miles from road to sea.

Martin Gaard Christiansen, European CEO for Unifeeder, said: “We’re delighted to bring the benefits of a faster transit time between Klaipeda and Immingham directly to our customers. In close co-operation with Immingham Container Terminal, Unifeeder offers a reliable, competitive, and environmentally friendly connection between the important markets of the Baltics and the UK.”
