Norden announced that it has acquired Taylor Maritime’s cargo activities in Southern Africa, previously operated under the IVS brand. As part of the acquisition, the Danish company incorporates the specialized parcelling team based in Durban, South Africa, led by Brandon Paul, who will continue to serve customers in the breakbulk cargo trades from South Africa.
“We are delighted that Brandon and his team are joining Norden, as we are committed to continuing to grow our activity and offering for customers in Southern Africa as a global provider of shipping services for bulk and project cargo of all sizes,” said Jan Rindbo, CEO of Norden.
“With a fleet of more than 400 vessels, we seek to further expand our business in the region and offer our customers fully flexible solutions,” he added.
The Durban office becomes Norden’s third on the African continent, joining the existing ones in Ivory Coast and Gabon. The region offers great potential for Norden due to the growth of the mining sector and because it is home to some of the world’s fastest-growing economies. To leverage this potential, we believe local presence is essential to develop close partnerships with customers and other key players in the region.
The acquisition is Norden’s third in as many years, following the purchase in 2023 of Thorco Projects’ activities and in 2024 of the Nordic parcelling firm Norlat Shipping, both now fully integrated into the Freight Services & Trading (FST) unit.
“The acquisition represents another strengthening of our parcelling strategy, creating a more customer-focused company,” added Jan Rindbo.
“The project cargo business is more specialized and niche than our traditional shipping activities, requiring expert knowledge, customization, and differentiation. We look forward to bringing these services to even more customers worldwide,” said the CEO of Norden.
The acquisition amount has not been disclosed and will not affect our guidance for the 2025 financial year. The operation has received the corresponding merger clearance.
