Originally planned for the Normand Ocean, a major Prysmian contract will now be executed by the Normand Energy, a vessel offering even greater capacity and advanced features.
Solstad Maritime and the Prysmian Group have maintained a collaboration to provide offshore solutions for many years, reflecting shared values of trust, reliability, and commitment to facilitating the energy transition.
Normand Energy is designed for demanding subsea operations and stands out for its size and capacity. Its main features include a 250-ton active heave compensated crane; a DP3 dynamic positioning system and a large cargo deck for complex project logistics.
These specifications make Normand Energy the ideal choice for Prysmian’s submarine cable installation and maintenance projects worldwide.
“Our collaboration is so effective thanks to our shared values of customer orientation. Prysmian is committed to being a partner to its customers in their work on energy security and energy transition, and this long-term agreement ensures our customers benefit from the reliability and safety offered by the best solutions in the coming years,” said Elisa Martinelli, Director of Transmission Installation and Services at Prysmian.
“Since 2016, we have worked closely with Prysmian to achieve common goals. By switching to Normand Energy, a larger and more advanced vessel, we strengthen our ability to deliver safe, efficient, and sustainable offshore operations,” said Hans Knut Skår, Commercial Director of Solstad Maritime.
Meanwhile, Solstad Offshore also announced that Petrobras has awarded it a new contract for the anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessel Normand Topazio, an agreement with a firm duration of four years and scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2026. The vessel will support the oil company’s operations in Brazil, for a gross value of approximately USD 73 million.
