World Fuel Services has coordinated the delivery of waste-based marine biofuel to Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings’ vessel Norwegian Viva in Piraeus, Greece, in collaboration with Greek supplier EKO.
The bunkering operation, which took place in December, represents one of the first commercial biofuel deliveries to a cruise vessel in Greece, according to World Fuel Services, a World Kinect company.
The delivery forms part of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings’ Sail & Sustain strategy and extends the cruise operator’s biofuel programme across Southern Europe. The company has previously conducted biofuel operations in Gibraltar, Copenhagen, the Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp (ARA) region, and an earlier delivery in Piraeus on July 20.

EKO, a member of HelleniQ Energy, has supplied marine fuels and lubricants in Greece since 1984, serving cruise ships, container vessels, coastal operators, and international fleets across Greek ports.
