Norwest Ship Management has reaffirmed its belief in the shortsea MPP market with further expansion of its fleet. To better serve the market, the company has signed a deal withEckerö Shipping to buy the two sister vessels the Exporter and Shipper.
Exporter will start on a time charter in January 2023. In July 2023 the ownership will be transferred to Norwest. Furthermore the sister vessel, the Shipper will be transferred to Norwest at the beginning of 2024.
The latest acquisition means that the fleet has grown by five this year to a total of 10 vessels, emphasising the company’s strong belief in the shortsea MPP market. The latest tally of six geared sideloaders, two combined /ro-ro and two ro-ro vessels mean that the company has expanded the range of solutions it can provide to its partners.

The acquisition comes on the back of the SC Ahtela’s phasing into the weekly liner services between Norway, Danmark and Poland.The weekly service is now being served by the combined RoRo sideloader vessels, the Link Star and Ahtela.
