Recently, OCEAN Alliance, comprising CMA CGM (No.3 in the world), COSCO SHIPPING (4), Evergreen (7), and Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL – part of COSCO), extended its operational cooperation for another five years, solidifying its presence until 2032..

Close on the heels of this extension, the alliance partners have launched their “DAY 8 Product”.

As per an announcement by CMA CGM today, due to the unstable situation in the Red Sea, ships are having to be routed through the Cape of Good Hope, disrupting supply chains and to mitigate this disruption, the OCEAN Alliance partners are stepping up coordination and adapting the rotations of the DAY 8 Product.

Touted as the world’s largest maritime services network for the 8th year in a row, this offer provides customers the option of

2 of the alliance services which connect Asia to the Red Sea have been suspended until further notice on the back of continued attacks by the Houthi rebels in the region.

The OCEAN Alliance which came into existence in 2017 through a partnership between the above-mentioned lines is the world’s largest operational shipping network covering major /West routes and connecting mainly Asia to Northern Europe, the Mediterranean, the Middle East, and North America’s East and West coasts.

CMA CGM, the largest carrier on the OCEAN Alliance is set to operate more than 120 container ships that can be powered with low-carbon energy by 2027, part of which is already deployed on the OCEAN Alliance network.
