OOCL improves its coverage between China and northern Vietnam

Must read

Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) has reinforced its direct coverage between China and North Vietnam with the introduction of a new service called HHX2, which recently began operating.

“The Hong Kong-based carrier offers this new HHX2 loop through a slot arrangement on the service of the same name operated by its compatriot Asean Seas Line (ASL),” said Alphaliner.

“ASL’s HHX2 service operates on a two-week cycle with two 1,640 TEU sister ships, covering the ports of Qingdao, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Haiphong, Da Nang and back to Qingdao. OOCL will not participate in the Da Nang call,” it added.

OOCL’s participation in this service began with the departure of the 1,640 TEU vessel CA Manila from Hong Kong on October 15.

“With HHX2, OOCL will offer weekly departures between North China and North Vietnam. For the route between South China and North Vietnam, this new loop will complement OOCL’s existing offerings (the HPH2), operated through slots on Haian Transport’s Northern Vietnam service; the HPH3, through slots on Asean Seas Line’s BVX2 loop; and the JCV, through co-loading on Cosco Shipping Lines’ Japan-South China-North Vietnam service,” concluded the consultancy.
