More than 38 kilograms of cocaine were seized in a container with bananas at the port of Piraeus, following a police operation by the Directorate for Combating Organized Crime and the Sub-Directorate for Drug Prosecution, in collaboration with S.D.O.E.

From the Directorate for Combating Organized Crime, more than -38- kilograms of cocaine were seized, which were found inside a cargo container with bananas at the port of Piraeus.

Specifically, following the appropriate utilization of informational data, as well as after police actions, verifications, cross-referencing of data and the creation of profiles (profiling and risk analysis), police officers of the Sub-Directorate for Drug Prosecution, in collaboration with the Narcotics Department of the Third Customs Directorate of Piraeus and the Department for Prosecution of Narcotics and Weapons of S.D.O.E., located -33- makeshift packages, containing cocaine with a total gross weight of -38- kilograms and -200- grams, which had been carefully placed inside the cargo container, between the refrigeration mechanism and the inner wall.

The cargo container, arriving by ship from a foreign Country with the destination the port of Piraeus, was loaded with -1,080- cartons of bananas.

It is noted that the anticipated profit from the sale of the quantity of cocaine seized is estimated to have approached -1,000,000- euros.
