Pakistan seized $972 million worth of drugs from 2 boats

Pakistan Navy seized a large quantity of narcotics off the coast of the Arabian Sea. A statement from the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) stated that the Pakistan Navy warship PNS Yarmook intercepted two vessels suspected of carrying narcotics within 48 hours last week. The statement reported that the ship’s crew seized methamphetamine and cocaine worth $972 million and 400 thousand dollars. No statement was made regarding the country of origin of the boats targeted in the operation.

A statement from the Pakistan Navy Directorate of Public Relations (DGPR) said, “This significant achievement underscores the Pakistan Navy’s unwavering resolve in ensuring maritime security in the region, establishing global peace, and combating smuggling in the sea lanes. The successful operation conducted by the PNS Yarmook ship confirms Pakistan’s effective role in providing an environment of peace and security for maritime transportation around the Indian Ocean region.”

Navy Commander Admiral Ashraf congratulated the ship’s crew

The Pakistan Navy Spokesperson stated that Navy Commander Admiral Naveed Ashraf appreciated the crew of the PNS Yarmook ship for their professionalism and dedication. The spokesperson also said, “While the Pakistan Navy continues to resolutely protect national maritime interests, it also maintains cooperation and coordinated maritime security efforts in international common spaces.”
