Brazil’s Petrobras is once again making changes to the chief executive position.
CEO of the state-owned oil firm, Caio Mário Paes de Andrades, leaves the company as the board has decided to terminate his contract ahead of time, according to a press release.
Instead, the board has appointed Chief Production Development Officer João Henrique Rittershaussen as temporary CEO until replacement Jean Praul Prates, who has been appointed by the new Brazilian government, has been approved internally at Petrobras.
Andrades is the fifth chief executive to depart from Petrobras since 2019. Three left the company under Jair Bolsonaro’s government, with Andrades’ predecessor, José Mauro Coelho, resigning in the summer of 2022.
Prates was appointed at the end of December but still needs approval by internal Petrobras committees, reports Reuters.
