The US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) has awarded a grant to Aboitiz Renewables, a subsidiary of Aboitiz Power Corp, for a feasibility study to develop up to 3 GW of offshore wind projects in the Philippines
USTDA funding will help Aboitiz identify potential project sites and provide technical and economic analysis to deploy offshore wind capacity sufficient to power more than 2M homes in the Philippines and meet growing energy demand.
Aboitiz Power president and chief executive officer Emmanuel Rubio said, “It is our goal to contribute to our country’s energy transition by exploring zero-emissions energy sources.
“This offshore wind feasibility study is a step in the right direction as we diversify our extensive renewable energy portfolio.”
Aboitiz Power is the Philippines’ leading provider of renewable energy.
